From October 18 to 20, 2024, the 10th China International Auto Modification Expo (AIT) was successfully held alongside the D1 Grand Prix in Dongguan, a major city in the Greater Bay Area and a birthplace of car modification culture. Organized by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Yesun International, and Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Ltd., and with the Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) as an international supporting partner, the expo attracted industry-wide attention.
This year’s AIT followed its traditional "dynamic-static combined" format, featuring both indoor exhibition spaces and outdoor event zones across a total exhibition area of over 120,000 square meters. With 600 exhibitors and over 1,100 brands participating, more than 3,300 custom cars were displayed. The expo showcased over 1,350 product launches in Dongguan, with more than 4,800 brand-new items making their debut in the city, bringing the annual new product count to an impressive 6,600.
Approximately 34% of attendees were professional (B2B) visitors, while 62% were enthusiasts (B2C), marking a record high since the expo's inception in Beijing in 2012. The number of professional visitors increased by approximately 16% compared to the previous edition, reinforcing AIT's leading position as the premier professional modification expo.
With a theme of "Adding Modification Projects for Ten Thousand Stores," the expo promotes the addition of new customization projects for 10,000 stores annually, enhancing the value for both exhibitors and buyers. The event also introduced innovative approaches to attract car enthusiasts, combining top-tier motorsports and large-scale car gatherings to captivate audiences and elevate the experience.
In terms of content, AIT emphasized creating a modification ecosystem, enabling professional buyers to explore opportunities and increase profitability in the customization industry. Leading brands like FAW-Volkswagen and FAW-Jetta participated under the theme of "co-building a modification ecosystem," which received strong support from top brands and niche market champions.
The exhibition highlighted diverse areas of modification, including factory modifications, brand-specific enhancements, performance tuning, off-road, electric vehicle customization, RV modification, and interior upgrades. In addition, new sections were introduced, focusing on outdoor camping, vehicle wraps, trendy auto aesthetics, modification tools, racing tires and oils, model cars, two-wheelers, and cultural memorabilia.
AIT also worked to foster industry development through partnerships with authoritative bodies, OEMs, and top players in the global modification supply chain. Open forums and conferences covered key themes like new dealership models, new media, and marketing strategies, creating new growth avenues for the industry. A prominent event, the 2024 China Custom Auto Innovation Summit, hosted by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, discussed critical topics and initiated the creation of a standardized framework for car modification.
Through in-depth planning and promotion, AIT successfully attracted a large number of targeted professional buyers. In the two months leading up to the expo, Yesun International organized a large-scale outreach team, traveling across China to personally invite modification stores and premium retailers, putting up 4,391 posters and issuing door-to-door invitations to 55,563 businesses.
After a decade of development, the 10th AIT Dongguan Modification Expo concluded successfully, achieving numerous innovations and breakthroughs while acknowledging areas for improvement. With gratitude for the support of industry partners, we look forward to seeing you again on October 17, 2025, in Dongguan.
